Attitude

“Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.” Albert Einstein

“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal, nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong attitude.” Thomas Jefferson

Attitude is defined as a way of thinking about someone or something.

There are many things in life out of our control.

Our attitude is one thing we can control 100% of the time.

In short, attitude is a choice.  Be it positive or negative.  Glass half-full or empty.  Seeing the rain or the flowers.   Ask yourself, “how do you see?”

This valuable concept goes way beyond swimming and sports.  Choosing a positive attitude not only helps you as a competitive swimmer, encourages and uplifts your teammates to do great things, it also carries over to virtually every other area of life’s journey.

As an athlete, you get to choose your attitude, your attendance, being a good teammate and doing the right thing in and out of the pool.

The proper attitude is a way of thinking that demands daily practice as much as your swimming success demands daily practice in the pool.

Now go swim.

  1. I like how you talk about attitude being a choice…it’s hard to remember sometimes…but it’s true.
